The Radical Middle is…

1.  In the message, the “radical middle” was described as “the place of faithfulness to Jesus when the world tries to pull us into extremes.” What do you think makes that kind of faithful living difficult in today’s culture?

2.  Read Joshua 3:1–5. Joshua tells the people to “consecrate yourselves” before God moves among them. What do you think consecration looks like practically for followers of Jesus today? Are there areas of your life where God may be asking you to become more surrendered or dependent on Him?

3.  The priests had to step into the Jordan River before the waters stopped flowing. Share about a time when you had to trust God before you had clarity or certainty. What did you learn through that experience?

4.  The message described the middle as “the uncomfortable, exposed, vulnerable, tense, but holy place.” Why do you think we often avoid places of tension or dependence? How can tension sometimes become a place where God forms us spiritually?

5.  In Joshua 5:13–15, Joshua asks, “Are you for us or for our enemies?” and the commander responds, “Neither.” How does that passage challenge the way we often approach cultural issues, disagreements, or conflict? What might it look like to ask, “God, am I on Your side?” instead of asking God to take ours?
